Original Acrylic ACEO: "Celmisia" - The Mountain Daisy
|
Anyone who visits the wild landscapes of the New Zealand high country will be familiar with this Mountain Daisy.
There are about 80 species of
Celmisia in this country, and all of them are
endemic.
They are mostly found in sub-alpine
regions and due to frequent hybridisation they can be
hard to identify, but one of the main features of all of
them is the construction of the leaves to avoid the
evaporation of water - either by a thick felty covering
of hairs, or by having varnished surfaces to their
leaves.
